The Little Mermaid
Grades 1-5
OVERVIEW / SYNOPSIS
Journey "under the sea" with Ariel and her aquatic friends in Disney's The Little Mermaid JR., adapted from Disney's Broadway production and the motion picture (featuring the enormously popular Academy Award-winning music and delightfully charming book and lyrics). Based on one of Hans Christian Andersen's most beloved stories, Disney's The Little Mermaid JR. is an enchanting look at the sacrifices we all make for love and acceptance.
In a magical underwater kingdom, the beautiful young mermaid, Ariel, longs to leave her ocean home — and her fins — behind and live in the world above. But first, she'll have to defy her father, King Triton, make a deal with the evil sea witch, Ursula, and convince the handsome Prince Eric that she's the girl whose enchanting voice he's been seeking.
About the process-
Casting will happen at the first rehearsal, and everyone who registers will be cast. This is an excellent learning experience for young actors who want to perform in a fully-staged musical. We create a safe learning environment where everyone will feel like an important part of the production. We value inclusion, creativity and fun.
We strictly limit the number of actors in our program so that we can build one-on-one relationships with them. We individualize their experience, to help them develop the skills necessary to thrive in the theatre arts. There is a reason that at every school show you will see NESPA actors in the lead roles.
Rehearsal Dates - Wednesday, December 13th - Wednesday, February 7th. Rehearsals are from 4-6:30pm.
Ticketed Performances-
Saturday, 2/10- 12:30pm and 2:00pm
Sunday, 2/11- 11am, 12:30pm and 2:00pm (lunch break between 2nd and 3rd show)
We are anticipating the show to be 30 minutes long.
Location- Rehearsals and performances will take place at the NESPA Theatre, 55 Concord St. in North Reading, MA. We now occupy studio 106 and 107.
Please make sure that the dates work for your schedule. There are no refunds after registering. Questions? Please reach out to Artistic Director, Kelly Walsh, at [email protected].
