Into the Woods JR.` Coming in NOV.!
This year we chose "Into the Woods" as our fall show! We love it because of it's small cast size, great parts, and incredible score. Auditions will be Tuesday, September 8th from 6-8pm and Thursday, September 10th from 6-8pm. You must have a time slot to audition. Email Kelly Walsh at [email protected] for an appointment. We will not be allowing anyone to walk-in those evenings for obvious reasons.
Rehearsals will be Sundays from 4-7pm at the NESPA studio from September 13th-November 15th. There is no rehearsal on 10/11. The performance will be the weekend of November 21-22. Details are t.b.d.
This year we will be running small programming that focuses on an educational experience. Everyone is concerned about educating our children, and we are going to take our programming to the next level to give actors a more engaging learning experience.
One of the greatest benefits of Drama and Musical Theatre is that it encourages our children to step out of their comfort zone. Regularly stepping out of your comfort zone can offer the following benefits:
- makes us more productive
- helps us perform at our peak
- improves our ability to handle the new and unexpected curve balls that life throws at us
- helps us get used to pushing our boundaries
- helps us grow as individuals
- makes us more creative
This fall we will be stepping out of our comfort zone artistically and we hope you'll join us.
About the show- Be careful what you wish for, as Stephen Sondheim’s and James Lapine’s cockeyed fairytale comes to life in this adaptation of their groundbreaking, Tony Award-winning musical. Into the Woods JR. features all of your favorite characters — Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack (and his beanstalk) and the Witch — in this lyrically rich retelling of classic Brothers Grimm fables.
The musical centers on a baker and his wife, who wish to have a child; Cinderella, who wishes to attend the King's festival; and Jack, who wishes his cow would give milk. When the baker and his wife learn that they cannot have a child because of a witch's curse, the two set off on a journey to break the curse, and wind up changed forever.
With unforgettable roles, minimal dancing and no chorus, Into the Woods JR. showcases a medium-sized ensemble of talented singers and actors. The sophisticated score has been adapted to make it more accessible to young performers.
