What is The Breakfast Club were to happen in 2021?
A modern day retelling of the classic film from the 80's set in 2021. Actors will work with Director, Kelly Walsh, and Playwright, Matthew Garlin, to create a modern day version of "The Breakfast Club". We will be looking for five actors to play the iconic roles. Auditions will be Sunday, September 12th from 2-4pm. Callbacks will be Monday, September 13th from 4-6pm.
Performances will be January 14th and 15th. Location t.b.a. This show is for teen actors. Please be familiar with the movie before signing up to audition as there will be similar subject matter.
The movie plot.
To contemplate the error of their ways, a small group of five stereotypical high school students has to sacrifice an entire Saturday in detention. For the following long eight hours and fifty-four minutes, a quintet of perfect strangers--wrestling athlete, Andrew Clark; pampered daddy's girl, Claire Standish; neurotic oddball, Allison Reynolds; brainy Brian Johnson, and John Bender, a rebel without a cause--will have to stay put, and write an essay of no less than a thousand words describing who they think they are. Now, as the quiet library of Shermer High School becomes a cold prison, the five strangers with nothing in common have no other choice but to wait, and perhaps, in the meantime, look beyond appearance. Indeed, others see them as a brain, an athlete, a basket case, a princess and a criminal. But, when all is said and done, they will be the Breakfast Club.
