In “Machine Sewing Basics”, students are introduced to the useful life skill of sewing machine operation, opening a door to the creative worlds of fashion, cosplay, crafting, and more! This one day workshop will cover:
- Key safety protocols
- The step-by-step process of threading their machine
- Stitching techniques, including navigating corners and curves
- Reverse stitching (back-tack)
Participants will also have the chance to put their new skills into action with a fabric bookmark project! This program offers individualized attention tailored to each student and their model of machine, equipping them with the knowledge needed to participate in our project based workshops and embark on their own sewing adventures!
Materials - Each participant receives a starter sewing kit and has access to a selection of fabrics!
Participants will supply their own sewing machine and bobbins, we do not have sewing machines that the students can borrow; Upon registration, instructor Sophia will coordinate with each parent/guardian or student to ensure that everyone will have appropriate equipment and provide recommendations if necessary!
