OVERVIEW / SYNOPSIS:

"As the half-blood son of a Greek god, Percy Jackson has newly-discovered powers he can't control, a destiny he doesn't want, and a mythology textbook's worth of monsters on his trail. When Zeus's master lightning bolt is stolen and Percy becomes the prime suspect, he has to find and return the bolt to prove his innocence and prevent a war between the gods. But to succeed on his quest, Percy will have to do more than catch the thief. He must travel to the Underworld and back; solve the riddle of the Oracle, which warns him of betrayal by a friend; and come to terms with the father who abandoned him. Adapted from the best-selling book The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan and featuring a thrilling original rock score, The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical is an action-packed mythical adventure 'worthy of the gods.'"

We will be producing the Theatre for Young Audiences Edition of the show; a 70 minute, one-act adaptation of the 2019 Broadway hit!

ABOUT THE PROCESS:

This production will train young performers to become a dynamic, skilled, stage actors. The next step from the "Minis" and "Bridge" programs, this production will be held off site at the Peabody Black Box Theatre! The music, choreography and scene work will become more challenging, and actors will be expected to work on their material outside of rehearsals. We create a safe learning environment where everyone will feel like an important part of the production. Our programs integrate social/emotional learning and confidence building to make it a truly unique learning experience. We focus on building confidence and creativity while learning the art of theatre.

AUDITIONS:

Auditions will be held on the first day of the program (Sunday, September 7th), and will consist of singing a 16-bar cut of a song from the show, as well as readings from the script. All actors who register will have a role in the production! Every single role, from the principal cast to the ensemble, is vital to bringing a show to life, and we strive to ensure that every actor in the production feels important and has moments where they can shine!

Please note that registration fees are non-refundable.
