WINTER 2027: Kid's Play Production - Mondays, 4-6pm (ages 8-12) "ALICE'S ADVENTURES IN WONDERLAND!"
SYNPOSIS:
"Alice is a young girl with a very active imagination. One day while listening to a rather dry history lesson from her sister, she dozes off until she is awakened by something rather curious; a frantic White Rabbit with a pocket watch. She follows this mysterious creature through a rabbit hole, where she falls down into the kooky and nonsensical world of Wonderland. As she continues her pursuit of the White Rabbit, she grows larger, smaller, and encounters a range of colorful (and perhaps a bit mad) characters."
This non-musical production is adapted directly from Lewis Carroll's novel, with some elements borrowed from its sequel, "Through the Looking Glass, and What Alice Found There." This adaptation will feature classic characters, such as the White Rabbit, the Mad Hatter and March Hare, the Cheshire Cat, the King and Queen of Hearts, plus some characters from the book that are typically excluded from adaptations, such as the Duchess and her Cook.
ABOUT THE PROCESS:
Our Play Production program is centered on the rehearsal and performance of a non-musical play. Students engage in a focused exploration of character development, text analysis, and ensemble storytelling. In addition to their work onstage, students participate in the creative process behind the scenes, including building and painting set pieces. This hands-on experience fosters a deeper understanding of theatrical production while strengthening collaboration, responsibility, and pride in the final performance.
Auditions will take place on the first day of the program, and everyone who wants to be in the show will be cast!
This program culminates in a weekend of ticketed performances!
EDUCATIONAL GOALS:
Our play production program gives students the opportunity to develop their skills both on and off the stage. Actors will get to assist in set painting and prop making, in addition to acting in the show.
Onstage, our educational focus will be on developing over-the-top, larger-than-life characters!
