The Bridge Program: A Pathway for Emerging Actors
There are two different casts for this production, with different performance dates. Please make sure you can make the performance weekend before signing up.
The Bridge is designed for students who are ready to deepen their training and transition toward more advanced performance work. With a focus on technique and storytelling, students refine their acting skills, strengthen vocal work, and develop a more confident stage presence. This program maintains a supportive environment while introducing increased expectations and artistic discipline.
Participants will engage in a more ambitious production than in the minis. This includes:
- A longer and more complex show, providing greater depth of character and storytelling.
- Expanded opportunities for solo work, including monologues, featured scenes, or vocal solos.
- More intricate choreography and staging, challenging actors to grow physically and mentally as performers.
SYNOPSIS:
"The musical centers on a baker and his wife, who wish to have a child; Cinderella, who wishes to attend the King's festival; and Jack, who wishes his cow would give milk. When the baker and his wife learn that they cannot have a child because of a witch's curse, the two set off on a journey to break the curse, and wind up changed forever."
With unforgettable roles, minimal dancing and no chorus, Into the Woods JR. showcases a medium-sized ensemble of talented singers and actors. The sophisticated score has been adapted to make it more accessible to young performers.
Auditions will take place on the first day, and everyone registered will be cast.
EDUATIONAL GOALS:
This production will introduce young performers to the work of Stephen Sondheim, one of the most influential composers in musical theatre. Through the production, students will explore how Sondheim and other composers use musical motifs and themes to support the narrative, develop characters, and deepen the storytelling.
