ABOUT THE PROCESS:

The Teen Play Production program is tailored for older students who are ready for a more rigorous and artistically demanding experience. Working with more complex material, students are challenged to take ownership of their performances while developing advanced acting techniques, emotional range, and collaborative skills. This program fosters a high level of commitment and artistry within a professional and supportive rehearsal environment.

ASSISTANT DIRECTING:

With all of our programs at NESPA, we aim to give students education opportunities that they may not receive working with other companies. For this production, in addition to acting in one of the five scenes, students will also have the opportunity to assistant direct one of the scene as well!

This would entail working along side the director on the blocking and pacing of the scene, as well as assisting with the visual design and costuming of the scene!

SYNOPSIS:

David Ives’ beloved collection of comedies combines wit, intellect, satire and just plain fun. All in the Timing encompasses falling in love to existential crises – and everything in between.

All in the Timing comprises five hilarious one-act plays:

Sure Thing, where two people meet in a café and find their way through a conversational minefield but still fall in love.

Words, Words, Words, which recalls the philosophical adage that three monkeys typing into infinity will sooner or later produce Hamlet.

The Universal Language, which brings together Dawn, a young woman with a stutter, and Don, the creator and teacher of Unamunda, a wild comic language.

The Philadelphia, where a young man in a restaurant has fallen into a Twilight Zone-like state.

Variations on the Death of Trotsky, which presents the Russian revolutionary on the day of his demise, trying to cope with the mountain-climber’s axe he’s discovered in his head.

Rehearsals and performances will take place at the NESPA Blackbox, located at 55 Concord Street, North Reading, Suite 106/107
