SPRING 2023: The Self Confidence Project-VISUAL ARTS-Tuesdays 4pm to 5pm (Tweens/Teens)
The Self-Confidence Project- VISUAL ARTS!
Calling all artists! Welcome to our newest class offerings that serves to promote self-confidence through the arts!
Does your creative child need a soft space to land each week and a social get together with other creative kids? This new offering is about sharing, connecting and expressing ourselves through visual arts.
Each week, we'll be introduced to a new art inspiration to focus on. Perfection is not required; finding an outlet and break from life IS! As we add to our art journal, we'll share our art and talk about what inspired our creations.
Journaling and creating with art helps us us to dig deep into what is happening in our lives and offers us a space for reflection and creativity. Does it have to be perfect? Nope. Most times, it's in the process of choosing, drawing, coloring, gluing, painting, thinking that we find answers ... or just rest. This Chill-out Art-ing class is a space for us to slow down and maybe try something we've never tried before. This is a time for experimenting, playing, growing AND maybe even having some fun!
Each week, students will come to class and begin by sharing what they feel comfortable sharing. Miss Lisa will also share her creations too (and no, Miss Lisa is not an artist! She does, however, value the experience of art-ing!). After sharing, we will be introduced to our weekly inspiration for our art journals. Students are encouraged to converse during the presentation and/or begin creating! At the end of the class, we will brainstorm about our art projects to be shared at the beginning of the next class. If you miss a week or are just dropping in, feel free to bring a project to share or just observe. Students are able to participate in whatever capacity they feel comfortable!
Adolescence can be very challenging, and our programs encourage tweens/teens to express themselves through visual arts. Each week we will connect as a group and create a piece of art that focuses on developing confidence, creativity and self-expression. We will aim to encourage each studetn improve writing and communication skills while having LOTS OF FUN!
